Chronological highlights:
1948: Named All State in football Wheatley High School in Texas.
1950: Named All State in football at Stockton college (Delta College).
1953: Named All West Coast in football at UOP. 1954-55: Served in the US Army, 101 Division.
1956: Earned teaching credential at COP and masters degree and administrative credential in 1960.
1957: teaching at John Marshall Junior High school.
1962: Move to Edison High School as head sophmore football coach and head varisty track coach.
1965: Named head varsity football coach at Edison, becoming the first African American head football coach in area history and the second in California prep history.
1970: Named Callifornia State Coach of the Year....Became the first African American selected to coach in California's All-Star Shrine game at the Los Angeles Coliseum.

Mr. Brian Gray has been coaching for 20 years. At the age of 21 he was the Head Football coach for Northwest Trojans organization. Coach Gray’s started coaching high school football in southern California. Coach Gray’s first opportunity to coach high school football as the head JV coach at Nogales High School in La Puente, Ca. The following year he was promoted to the offensive Coordinator on the varsity. Through this process he continued to grow and got a great opportunity to coach WR’s at Damien High School, which carried a tremendous amount of tradition. Coach Gray is married to his wife, Denyse Gray and has two children. His daughter Kimora and son Brian Jr. have been sources of great support for him. Coach Gray taught and coached the QB’s at Saint Mary’s High School, where he was a part of the staff that won the schools 1st section title in football. Coach Gray became the Head Football Coach in 2009 at Lincoln High School, where he is an alum. That hiring marked the first African-American to be the head football coach at Lincoln. He also was the first African American varsity head coach of any male sport. Coach Gray was the Stockton Record All Area Coach of the Year in 2011. He sat on the committee that selected the 2012 Charles Washington Award. Coach Gray was also selected as the Lions North All Star team in 2012. (This might have marked the first African American coach to be selected for this honor, Unless Coach Washington coached it)
